Upon wondering of why so many people (including myself) have that constant restlessness and lack of joy in their life, I observed that it consists in the unmet reality with our own perception.
What do I mean by that? I saw that when we anticipated on certain events or material things in our daily life, we have this grandiose idea of all the things that we shall see as this event/material things unfolds.
When this event or material possession that we have did not satisfy us, we were curious. Maybe there is something wrong with this event. Maybe something don't feel quite right. Maybe I need more.
This vicious circle will never lead us anywhere. Instead, it will put ourselves into this abyss of darkness, just like gollum, who lets the "ring" possessed his very being and turned him into something other than himself.
So what is it that brings joy into our very own heart?
St. Augustine, a rich young man turned into a bishop in the 4th century wrote, "You (The Lord) have made us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless, until it rests in Thee."
By clinging to that very faith, that very love, will we be able to sail through this journey of life amidst the abyss of darkness, sorrow, and the darkness of its night.
As Mother Teresa said, "The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread."
That hunger for love that you long for, you can find it in The Love itself, which is Christ. Seek Him, find Him in your prayer, in your act of giving this Christmas time, for you can give without loving, but you can't love, without giving.
Be the source of Joy whenever you go. Constantly in tune yourself with God. Time is ticking, it's better to change now than when it's too late.
Christians are supposed not merely to endure change, nor even to profit by it, but to cause it.
