On the Eucharist

Some reflection on the Eucharist...

I read about a week ago on  this popular analogy between sleep and death. In a sentence: sleep is analogous to our mini-death, where we hit our reset button until we go onwards to the next day.

As I went to mass this morning, I was reminded by this scripture passage on 1st Corinthians 11,

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes. Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body and blood of the Lord. A person should examine himself, and so eat the bread and drink the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself.

Isn't it true that as we go to mass and prepare to meet with our Lord, there is an analogy between receiving the Lord and the Final Judgment? The same way as we deemed ourselves worthy to receive Him as we go up to receive Him in the Eucharist after our own examination of conscience, the Lord will judge us in the final hour of our lives, whether we are deemed worthy to come into His final banquet where he has prepared for us a place eternally.
