What does Christmas mean to me?

Two years back, I had the privilege of seeing a newly born baby at day 2 of his debut here on earth. The sight of the couple, being a new parent, was an invaluable life lesson. It can't get any real than that: how to care for a soul? A vulnerable body, wrapped in a soul so precious to both his mom and dad.

That is what Christmas all about. As St. Augustine puts it, "without ceasing to be what He was, He became what He was not." The savior of the world, was born to us, in a lowly manger, wrapped in a swaddling cloth. Vulnerable.

In greater reality, this is what being a Christian is all about. We are called to be vulnerable beings. Believing that in the midst of all the uncertainty on our lives, He is the God who is with us. Emmanuel. Wonderful Counselor. Father Forever. Prince of Peace. And when it comes to the care of our soul, he gently says...

Can a mother forget her infant,
be without tenderness for the child of her womb?
Even should she forget,
I will never forget you.
